Concrete Fragment
by Evgeny Lushpin, 2007
ABOUT
This form of still life tickles the imagination. What inspired the artist to paint this fragmented concrete block is how he sees people going through life. Like this broken concrete, we all go through different things that take away a part of us. And yet, similar to it, we can still remain standing firmly on the ground, looking unbothered and undisturbed. The use of color white seem to symbolize innocence and pureness. The end result is a beautiful work of art that showcased resilience as portrayed by its ability to wither any storm. Its damages became its distinction. A painting that is not only symbolic, but also has flexible design, its simplicity will look good anywhere.
